Helena Dietrich (she/they) is a transdisciplinary artist and independent researcher whose practice weaves together performing arts, experiential soundscapes, and immersive installations. Their work explores magical realism and feminist perspectives through sensory-rich environments that challenge traditional relationships between audience and performer.
Helena Dietrich's artistic practice (2010-2024) consistently explores the transformative potential of collective and individual experiences through immersive, participatory performances that blur the boundaries between performer and audience. Her work demonstrates a profound investigation of identity, embodiment, and altered states of consciousness through various mediums and formats; a unique synthesis of performance art, social practice, and somatic exploration. Through carefully constructed experiences, Dietrich creates spaces where participants can explore alternative modes of being, thinking, and relating to themselves and others. Her practice suggests that transformation - whether personal, collective, or cosmic - requires both physical and mental engagement, and that art can serve as a vehicle for such holistic change.
As an educator, Dietrich has held teaching positions at several institutions, including LUCA School of Arts and KASK Hogeschool Gent, where they've developed workshops exploring the relationship between environment and body. Their pedagogical approach mirrors their artistic practice in its emphasis on experiential learning and interdisciplinary exploration.
